short air intake

how much more noise do these things make?....i really dont want it to be any noisier than stock....the only reason i would buy one is because it seems they are cheaper than a K+N box filter....its my wifes car and she will freak if its TOO noisy....

Re: short air intake

Depends on the intake. The k&n intake is loud. But the only time its loud is when i get on it. And i think the k&n box filter is much cheaper than a whole short ram intake.

Re: short air intake

they are noisy... if you going at crusing and step in the gas, well, i can say that i do not need a honk anymore.
When the engine is not under load, they are normal. if the engine is loaded, yes, they will scare you the first time you do.
On the highway, i just shift down and whoever is in front, if their car is not shaking with their stereo, will know there is a car behind.

Re: short air intake

Rev your car near redline, and that's about how loud it is at around 3~4K RPM
Otherwise, it's not that loud

Performance if you are going to drop a stage 1 cam, header/exhaust, otherwise it's the cow race again

Re: short air intake

Short ram intake? or Cold air intake? You mixed the two together lol. CAI are louder than SRI's but are better ... but are more suited for drier areas like california or something lol. I don't think mine's really noisy ... unless i'm up at lik 4-5k rpm. If your wife isn't at all an aggressive driver then you won't notice it ... and you will eventually tune it out. I don't even hear mine anymore unless i'm trying to :P

Re: short air intake

I doubt your wife will be able to notice any additional noise from an SRI. Especially since our cars aren't insulated like a luxury vehicle.

Options:
1. "Hey wifey, you know the volume **** on the stereo? Yeah, it goes to 11. Use it."
2. "Ear plugs trick!"
3. It is nice that you have a fully assembled Honda Civic in your kitchen. Just make sure she doesn't actually turn it on and the SRI noise won't even come into play.

I'm kidding about option 3.
