i debadged the "civic" from my car today but theres glue that WONT come off. the fishing line got most of it, then i used goo-gone but it seems like its not strong enough somehow. my method of heating it was to use a steam blower thing (boils water then blows the hot steam out). it works wonders and took maybe 10 seconds to get the whole badge off, but even shooting steam on the residue for 30 seconds straight won't get it off.

i've tried scraping with a credit card and my nails. ive let the goo-gone soak for 30 mins, but didnt work. tonight im going to let it soak in overnight. but it's going to drop to -2 celsius and im afraid it's going to freeze. maybe the temperature had something to do with the glue problems? it's about 2 degrees celsius outside.

if tomorrow it doesn't come off, what else can i try?

the older the car, the longer it takes. i did a 20 yr old accord and i was out there for hours picking one tiny spec at a time while soaking in goo gone. eventually it will come out, then use a good polisher like meguiars ultimate compound to get rid of outlines and match the paint. then wax.

3m stuff is extremely strong, i used it on some dynamat to remove the tar residue and it melted it away. it can cause damage to some painted surfaces tho as a found out using it to remove wheel weight adhesive.

Ive had to use lacquer thinner to get sticker residue off a a couple Work Trucks so messing the paint up was not really an issue i wouldn't suggest to use it on your car though because it could damage paint. but it removes it like a hot knife through butter

Because that's just what it is, paint thinner

Anyways, what I did was get a towel and soak the thing with goo gone and rub away
Once I got most of the big pieces off, I clayed the area until everything came off, theres not even an outline anymore

i managed to get it off today. i took my finger and rubbed till it heated up and it came off nicely. i cant believe i didnt try that last night lol. now just to wash the car and wax it.

Is the Honda emblem on the trunk just glued on too like the civic badge? Has anyone taken it off?

it has two rivets that go thru holes in the metal, and it has some stick tape too. i wouldnt take it off unless you like holes showing.

Heres what i did and it worked good, just be careful cuz i put small little marks in my paint, no big deal though, i used goo gone then i took a chisel, ye sounds dumb i know and i put it inside a towel and i would gently rub it up onto the glue until it lifted up then begin pulling it up with my finger, took ten mins at that point.
