Tail of the Dragon Run

Just for kicks...

Took the old girl through the North Carolina/Tennessee mountains in search of the Tail of the Dragon. Yokohamas, KYB shocks, and upgraded front brakes came in handy.

Anyone else made this run?

Re: Tail of the Dragon Run

did not take pics - i was alone
killed one set of tires in some parts, though...
Iwas still running without the rear camber kit and the rear progress sway bar, and was still using the front eibach sways, so understeered like a pig...

Re: Tail of the Dragon Run

cross country to get to the east coast, GB?

Now that i opened the pics, you were not really going fast... Need more speed to roll the car more if you only on upgraded shocks... although in street, it might be advisable... never know what is beyond that blind corner...

Re: Tail of the Dragon Run

I've always wanted to but never have. Should have done it when i lived in Winston-Salem, it's a bit further from where I now live in Fayetteville. Maybe sometime this summer.

Re: Tail of the Dragon Run

uhn... yeah, i had to slow down a lot of times due to cruisers that were taking pictures - pretty sure locals would not be with cameras...
Not a good place to go anymore, too many tourists there to get a good run...
It's like running novice class in track days... Very hard to get in the corners because of the guys that mash in the straights and crawl in the corners...

Re: Tail of the Dragon Run

oh, well, hopefully you will have less tourist traffic...
I remember the guys that comes with vipers, corvettes, NSX and whatnot to the track days, all excited (ahhh! i will be driving in the track) and gets tailgated by older corollas, civics, heck, even a cavalier were tailgating! And all they can to is mash the throttle in the straights... And get on our way in the corners... The instructors are pretty clear in the morning instructions - do not mash the gas in straights - if you want to do that only, go to the drag strip - track days are more about cornering.

Oh, yeh, that's me in the stands there taking the same pictures as the second one.

On separate note, sl33py, how are the repairs coming out?
