okay so i am thinking i need the vtec engine(d17a2), wiring harness and the d17a2 computer. will it bolt onto my original tranny and will there be other parts i need. My budget is 1200 so thanks in advance for the help guys!

Do you want to do a complete engine swap or just a head swap, either way, it will cost no more than $600.

You should be able to find it for much less locally, D17a2s are available on craiglist for around $500 usually. You will need an ex exhaust system to do a complete swap..

my car has over 200000 miles and it starting to make noise and i want to do it right, also i wanna do it fast since this is my daily. so if i can get everything i need and take a weekend and swap itll be good. i want to find an engine with less than 50000

i dont understand what your point in getting an engine swap to a A2 is?

ur not going to gain that much power and ur not going to gain that much mpg.

and ****, for 1200, thats 30 full tanks of gas that equates to about 10500 free miles.

factor that into ur equation and you can floor ur A1 and still have money left over from gas.


you are going from one slow ecobox, to another for 1200 give or take. i would love to hear your reasoning. (being genuine)

its a good investment. nobody wants to buy a car with 200K+ for any decent price. but they will pay good money for a cosmetically and mechanically sound car with 40K miles

I think sl33pyriceboi's point is that you can go on craigslist and buy a low mileage A1 for $300-500 and do a simple direct swap without changing any other parts.

ic. but factor in the loss of $1200 + labor you spend into putting that engine in when you are "reselling" your civic.


our cars arent worth that much anymore to begin with. plus, as a buyer, id think twice before i buy a car that had to have its engine replaced...

but thats my .02
