Had the clutch on my 2002 Civic replaced last April. Everything AOK until about two weeks ago. Now it's hard to engage 4th and 5th gears--and 4th has even popped out on me. A mechanic (not the one who did the replacement) just checked it today and said we need a new transmission, that it's not the clutch itself. 230,000 miles is a lot, so I guess this could be, but I'd like some feedback from those who know if this clutch/transmission connection is kosher.

If it's hard to engage gears or it's hopping outta gear, it's a transmission issue. Synchros are probably on their way out.
