I dont even know if this is from my car, but I am 90% certain it is.
This is the screw (first picture) and I think it goes here(second picture).


but i dont know for sure... what is that second picture anyways?

that looks like the wingnut for the alternator! doesnt belong anywhere in the second pic area. it looks like you are missing an air intake bolt tho. lemme try and snap a pic, i remember seeing that bolt a few days ago. its not the one at the top of the bay where the power steering is, its down below in the front where alt is. i had mine almost fall off once too and the belt started squealing. i prolly have a spare bolt for the air intake if you want. just pay shipping and packaging $2.

top one on the PS pump should be easy to see if there is a hole in that spot. otherwise its the bottom one. here you can see it peeking out under the alt. i really have no idea how you are able to drive with that missing.

Once the wingnut is adjusted and the other bolts are holding the alternator in place that wingnut can fall out with the alternator not moving. Not really a good thing by any means though. Get that back in A.S.A.P.

keeps the alternator belt at the proper tightness. if it falls out, you wont have a charging system and the alternator may get damaged. the shop said my belt was so loose, it was visibly wobbling and they were shocked the charge system light didnt come on. it was also squealing like crazy all the time. they tightened it back up and all the problem went away. i just never noticed it cause i usually only have the hood open with the car off.

I am guessing it is not the alternator one, its been out for months. lol damn.
my brother was kind of just flooring it and he clutched really hard. i heard it drop and went back to pick it up, off the street.

Anyways I do have a screech in a belt. I posted before on these forums for help; i doubt the noise has to do with the valve clearance, so i just ignored it.

Its not from the PS! Wow I can't even put it in the alternator. My hand doesn't fit. And how will I know when its tightened enough? How much would I get charged by a mechanic? Help

Is the alternator belt tension adjustment different for the 7th gens? I don't think my 6th gen has a wing nut. When I had to adjust the tension for my alternator belt, I had to use a crowbar to move the alt up and down. I mean, this was 2 years ago, so I could be completely off . I went underneath for better access. I have big hands and I ran into the same damn problem on my other car.

If I remember correctly this wingnut is only for setting the tension, after the other bolts are installed they hold the alternator in place To prevent the crowbar method

well i had to go under and remove a black cover, but i got it in. there was also something else loose so i tightened both up and now there is no noise yess..
