Re: 01 civic help

This question has been answered a lot,and it would help if you would search. The 7th gen has the D17A which is reliable, but not a good source for HP.Or you have an EP3 with the K20A3.Which is the economy K20 which has less power than the Type R K20 or the FA5/FG2 SI K20.Normal bolt ons won't do you any good with the D17A.If you want real power, you would need a good turbo build or swap the engine out.

Re: 01 civic help

Bolt on = header, exhaust, and intake. From the bolt ons,you will get very minimal gains.Maybe 5-7 HP.10HP at most.I'm not sure about the pulley and throttle body though since I don't own a 7th gen myself. But I know from other members on this forum that I/H/E on the D17A have small gains.
Edit:But either way, without a turbo, the D17A won't produce you any good power. The turbo build or engine swap should come out around the same price.A really, really good turbo build could run you up to $10,000,or you could swap in a Type R engine like a B16 or B18,those will run you somewhere around $4,500-$6,000.Or you can get the more powerful Type R K20A which is from $7,000-$8,000.

Re: 01 civic help

Pulleys don't give much power, maybe 3 hp with a tune.

Swapping in a b16, b18 or h22 would only be legal if its a 2001 motor and even then it would require a lot of custom parts. There are lots of things you can do to improve the braking, suspension, cosmetics on 7thgens its just making power is almost impossible.
Intake/exhaust/TB will make just make your car sound better.

Re: 01 civic help

It would cost more than it's worth to swap a b series into a 7thgen

Re: 01 civic help

a question - do you have EX or the others?
Also, if you don't want to go too much, if you have the EX, I/E/H and a crower stage1 cam is the best way, but will throw you back over 1k for a 20-30 ponies.
