I am having the same tranny problems that it seems many 01 owners have. I am new to civics, and new to transmission work altogether. It seems like I can't find anything in a search. Are all 7th gen transmissions compatible? Maybe an 04-05 would be better? I'm not interested in fixing this and that, just to drive 50,000 miles and fix that and the other. This tranny has 180,000 miles on it, and recieved no maintenance between 70k and 180k. time for a replacement....and not another 01.

most ppl swap in the 04-05 trans. supposedly they fixed the problems with the older models. but you should be lucky getting that many miles out of it, many of us started having issues after 25k miles and barely last more than 100k.

i definitely was surprised to discover the problems with it, but more so at the fact that this one lasted so long.

could a mechanically inclined person with common sense and the right tools do this swap with no prior experience?
