D17 turbo + internals- how much boost

hI ALL,

I hope you can help me with this question:

I have a civic D17 with K1 Rods, Wiseco pistons low comp, Darton Sleeves, OBX turbo, Cometic Gasket, intercooler, srt-4 injectors and a VAFC-II.

Do you know at how much Boost can i run safe?

I really appreciate your help on this, i am new on this.

Re: D17 turbo + internals- how much boost

Tuning with a VAFC-II? I'd have to highly advise against doing that..

If you wanna safely run high amounts of boost, I'd run with a k-pro

Re: D17 turbo + internals- how much boost

I was running 2.5psi with a VAFC-II and even that was a terrible idea..

I went back to i/h/e from a turbo setup a year after, just so my car would run right..

Instead of wasting $300 plus tuning costs and whatnot, save that money to do it proper

Re: D17 turbo + internals- how much boost

tuning a turbo engine with a vafc2 is a terrible idea. and especially not at 12psi. just because you have internals doesnt mean you can run high boost. its the tune that matters. stronger internals only means they will last longer under detonation than the stock stuff.

if i were you, i wouldnt even run the turbo with vafc2, bare minimum, use greddy emanage or aem f/ic. best thing to do is use kpro

btw, let's see some pics

1. Go read your responses on honda tech.

2. YOU CAN'T USE VAFC 2 WITH A TURBO. At the bare minimum, find an AEM F/iC or PCS XFC. You should be good up to about 8 psi on either of those units. That is, if you pay for a decent tune.

3. YOU CAN NOT GO PAST 10 PSI. The stock map sensor will not handle it. Period.. end of story. You don't want to surpass the map sensors capabilities, it's bad news (don't ask how I know).

Why would you go as far as internals but not run kpro?!?! Your nuts you have clearly spent a decent amount on what you have now, why not finish the job the right way

Re: D17 turbo + internals- how much boost

you don't have enough money for 1000$ kpro yet you have enough for k1 rods and wiseco pistons? 400+500-->900$ spent on internals only, let alone the turbo. i mean, cmon.

Re: D17 turbo + internals- how much boost

Thanks all for your answers. And yes i know, i had the money to buy internals and why not a Kpro, greddy emanage or aem f/ic? because one friend had the VAFC-II and he sold it to me cheap and i thougth that i could run with VAFC .

So now, i would like to know if some of you guys could sell me one of these emanage systems so i can run safe.

I know that i can run around 12psi with my stock map sensor, for the moment 11 or 12psi would be good for me.

I really appreciate your comments, any idea of how much is the cost for kpro or greddy emanage? and wich model is the correct for my car
???

Please help!

Re: D17 turbo + internals- how much boost

Does the greddy emanage is the same thing than VAFC??

Because the greddy emanage is cheaper than a k-pro, could i use the greddy?

Baron answered that, unless you mean running with safety off...
Did you read the answers in honda tech, BTW?

Re: D17 turbo + internals- how much boost

Dude.. quit trying to go the cheap route.. I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE that it is NOT the best way to go. Furthurmore, I was only boosted at 2.5 psi. That is negligible compared to what you want to run, and my engine suffered because of it.

It appears that you wanna be boosted so bad, so might as well go all out and do it right, otherwise you will truly regret it. You're aiming to build the wrong way man.. Spend money on fuel management before you go for big numbers..

Invest in a good fuel management system, run low boost, and save money to beef up the rest of your engine, and tune your badass fuel system to accommodate.
