Air in the coolant system. I had this when I bought my 04 a couple weeks ago. I just went ahead and had a coolant flush since I was at 65,000 miles. Gurgling noise gone!

Also, the whining noise may be the alternator. Place the car in neutral and rev the engine. Does it coincide with the RPMs?

Re: faint whine

ok i dove deeper into the noise to find it only sounded like it was coming from inside the dash but the noise is coming from the airbox of the airfilter any ideas before i tear into it.

Which noise?

To test the gurgling noise, switch the temperature dial to hot. The noise should be prevalant. When you switch it to cold, it'll go away.

Re: faint whine

i'm going to wait the gurgling sound disappeared btw (stupid gremlins and gnomes), the ticking sound however is still present, it sounds like it is coming from the the intake manifold side and throttle body area, also the whining sound is the alternator. by the time spring break is over everything under the hood will be new.
