Help with DIY ECU

Good afternoon fellas,
I'm reading about everyone recommending KPRO and stuff. Does anyone know of a open source or another program that will flash the ECU's? It seems that it would be easy to just hook my laptop up and change a few settings and I'd be done.
Maybe something has to be soldered onto the ECU? I have no idea, any help is appreciated

Re: Help with DIY ECU

the d17 ecus are not programmable, the kpro ecus are programmable. you can modify the kpro code...not the d17 ecu code.

Ok. It was my understanding that the K-pro Would piggy back onto the ECU. So, How does a K-Pro Work?

Re: Help with DIY ECU

K-pro is a daughterboard that is installed on the K-series ecu... not the D-series ecu. The D17 ecu has never been cracked and likely never will be. These ECU's don't work like other manufacturer's computers. Like ford or Porsche for example can be reprogrammed just about any way you want them to provided you have the software. We do it at work all the time. But these honda ecu's are designed differently. And just fyi, the k-pro is not a piggy back on your current ecu, it replaces it completely.
