2002 civic ex k20 swap

I'm wanting to swap a k20 into my civic and I'm doing an rsx swap for the back brakes. What other upgrades do I NEED to have in order for it to ride smoothly?

Re: 2002 civic ex k20 swap

To swap the k20 in your car it will be alot of work. You will need motor mounts, ecu, wire harness, axles, and probably alot more not to sure what all it has to take to swap it in those cars cause the chassis is so different than the ep3 and dc5. The subframes and everything are so different. But i am sure there is someone on here that has done the swap so you could ask them. And hopefully you are doing the rsx type s swap.

Re: 2002 civic ex k20 swap

I was also wanting to know if I should swap to a b18 instead. It has good specs, but what makes the k20 so much better? Just like most everyone else, I'm on a budget so that's a big factor.

Re: 2002 civic ex k20 swap

k20 faces the right way. intake manifold in the front not the back like a b series. b18 might be illegal in your state cause its older than your car (thats what ive heard). k20 is a beast in every way except for transmission that's its Achilles heel (from what ive seen). k20 would be a better choice imo. other people might differ on this though. and a b18 can cost as much as a k20.

Re: 2002 civic ex k20 swap

Well the k20a itself is extremely expensive. Is there any other motor like the k20a2 that I could just do a head swap on? Do any other engines have the same blocks as the k20a?

Re: 2002 civic ex k20 swap

Just get the k24a2 and swap it in its better than the k20a2. The k24a2 has 200 hp with 166 trq. It will work just like the k20 would. And ya the k20a is the best k20 out there but would recommend getting it cause of the price you could easily get on of the others to its power and even more with that price. You can get a k24a2 for bout 1900.

Its pretty much the same thing as the link i gave you. You need the k24a2, kpro, ep3 sub frame, shift linkage, shifter assembly wire harness, motor mounts, and blah blah, its all in that link.

And ya some just buy the k24 and throw the k20 head on it but if you do not know what you are doing then i do not recommend it.
