Hey,

I recently got my windows tinted on my Civic with Llumar Tint ( 4 days ago). Whenever I turn on the rear defroster the radio reception turns horrible. For some reason once turned off the reception comes back and is perfect again. Does anyone know how to fix this if it can be or have had the same problem?

i have the same tint, i never use the rear defrost and i never listen to radio so i cant comment on that lol. but if the tint is metallic, it can cause interference since the radio antenna is built into the window just like the defroster lines. so either dont use the defroster or start listening to cds. theres no other solution aside from taking the tint off, which is a big problem because its a pain to remove all the glue and also the defroster lines and antenna may rip off.

It's just popped up in my mind; my parents' 01' civic did that too. I never figured out what was causing it though. It might help you if told you that the windows were not tinted. The defogger probably liberates some electromagnetic waves at a frequency near that of FM waves, which would cause interference.

dang...i never had this problem before...i have the same tint and used my defroster and listen to radio, never had interference though.

maybe your tint wasnt metallic.

Thanks for all the help guys. A bit more info is it is a metallic tint and should only affect AM reception, but for some reason only when the defroster is on do I get bad reception. When it is off it is perfect.

Yea sometimes you even get bad cell phone reception in your car.
