Has anybody ever checked out the JDM K20a on eBay. There are a lot of them with a warrenty for a few months that garentees alot of stuff. The prices are from 5k to 3k shipped, with under 40k miles on them. They have videos of them compression testing the engine with the VIN # that youll actually be getting. And these engines look freakin clean! They are complete swaps with everything:

1. TYPE R ENGINE 220HP
2. 6 SPEED TYPE R MANUAL TRANSMISSION
3. STARTER
   
4. ALTERNATOR
   
5. AC COMPRESSOR
   
6. POWER STEERING PUMP
   
7. INTAKE AND EXHAUST MANIFOLD

Does this seem like a good idea?

idk, im iffy about buying engines on ebay. and the type-r engine tends to knock even on 91 octane. you need 93 minimum if you have that in your area (overseas they have better gas than we do). i would rather go with the a2.

looks can be deceiving. what if it was abused or raced, you wouldnt know until you took it apart of installed it.

well it some have a few month warrenty. And if i wanted to order it until im ready to install then i would kno and be able to return for new engine.

i couldn't imagine spending that much money threw egay i have had one to many bad transactions . ebay is always 50/50 when it comes down to it so it mite be the best deal ever or you could royally be screwd so i personally say don't do it but you could flip a coin if you want.

yeah when it comes to ebay I wouldn't mind spending like $20. but to buy things like a motor or a car...... not so much. You never know what could be wrong with that thing. It could be stolen or blown or maybe even hydro locked or someshit.

usually from a shop or foreign importer, because they have to have all the paper and documents showing its legit.

these particulare sellers are legit and have all the proper documents, plus they show vids of ur actual motor running and doing a compression test.

anything can be illegitimate. but when it comes to the scale of legitimacy (from least to most), I would say it goes:
- ebay
- craigslist
- guy in the middle of a parking lot with the back doors of his van open
- friend
- etc. etc.
- importer who runs an actual business with credentials, references, and documents to prove it.

it would be sweet *** sweet if it worked out perfectly, but imagine the unbelievable pain in the *** it would be if it ended up being a nightmare like 99.9999% of ebay transactions do. and no one would feel bad for you. trust your instincts. you had a bad feeling about it, which is why you posted the original post. it would definitely be worth paying a little more for getting it locally and from someone with a verifiable business...

I agree, ebay sucks. Ive been scammed myself three or four times for small amounts. I'd hate to lose 4000+ on it

its really hit and miss. be responsible and know who youre buying from. ive been on ebay since 2001 and with almost 200 feedbacks, ive only been scammed 1-2 times.

LOL I was just thinking about this thing that happened to me on Ebay once. There was this one time where for some reason my ebay account got hacked. I tried logging on and I couldn't because my account was closed. I was like WTF. So I emailed them and asked about what was happening. Turns out someone hacked it and tried to get over $700 worth of sunglasses.

yeah mine got hacked too but ebay caught it. they also hacked my email acct and put ebay.com in the spam folder so i would never see any ebay messages. my friends acct got hit too, except the guy listed like 20 different cell phones lol.

Why do that when you can go through a LEGIT business in orlando, fl? I know these guys personally and no they are NO bs. Everything is 100% Jdm and 100% straight. They have warranties on all their motors and trannies, and they are hella cheap.

id go with craigslist over ebay. at least you can go check out the motor yourself. and its more local than ebay so no delivery charges and again you can go check out the motor yourself. i dont think you can find k20a on craigslist that easily though.
