lost my after market remote control
lost my after market remote control
installed it couple of years ago with keyless entry and alarm.
And I lost one of the remote control and the one left begins to function improperly due to over use.
Any idea what can I do for this case?
Can I just replace the remote controls without replacing the whole keyless entry/alarm system of my car?
thank you

usually alarm manufacturers sell extra remotes, and you will need to get it programmed to your alarm again (usually any alarm install shop can do this). also try opening up your old one and cleaning it. alot of times its just dirty or battery is dying.

thanks.
I got it done long time ago, and I don't even know if the store is still available or not.
Or should I just replace the whole keyless entry/alarm system to get a factory one?

Re: lost my after market remote control
factory alarm systems arent really good for much. theyre also factory which means expensive. if your car is a dx/lx, it didnt even originally come with keyless, so chances are you would pay huge bucks to get it installed. if you had an ex it would be cheaper but i think the dealership would still rip you off for any work you get done on the system.
you could take the car to any alarm shop and they will help you. it doesnt have to be the same guys that installed it. every shop has a range of alarms they use and chances are they will have the same brand or model of system and will be able to fix it.
