Tired of being ripped off from Dealer
Hey You Guys I'm Reporting From Allen TX.
Tired of being ripped off from a Honda Dealer, I decided to learn the basics.
My first Projects are:

Any one has a link to a DYI for changing the Oil ?
My 04 Civic it is about to reach the 60,000 miles...
Thank you In Advance!!

Jack the car up. You should recognize the oil pan and the bolt that you remove for your oil changes. Locate your transmission, on the passenger side of em2's and es1/2's. On the transmission there is a bolt which will drain the oil. Its not directly on the bottom of the transmission, its just an inch or two above the bottom, this is to hold some fluid in the transmission no matter what- say you have a tranny fluid leak, you dont wanna run empty on that stuff, at least you'll have a little in there that will help you hold off on running your transmission. Pretty much drain it, and rebolt it. further up on the tranny you'll see another bolt that you will use to fill the transmission. This is in a really awkward spot and you'll need a funnel with a flexable tube attached to it. If I remember correctly, if you follow the fluid amounts exactly, you will be right at the level of the fill bolt. It you put just a few ounces more in, you'll have some spill out of the fill hole. Once filled, put the bolt back in, and check the torque on both of them. Start the car, idle for a minute, and go for a drive, starting off slow so your gears can become coated.
This is what helped me change my oil and i got the oil for THE S2K and it is amazing.

Thanks for the DIY for the oil change.
Do you have any pictures showing the tranny drain bolts?
I got an Automatic 04 Honda Civic VP, I am assuming the procedure it is different from the manual transmission

I have a 5spd but I think i read somewhere that an auto just has like one bolt and is easier than standard. idk? Anybody with an auto know how to drain?
Re: Tired of being ripped off from Dealer
OK! for an auto you need to remove the tranny drain bolt. It is the bolt that a 3/8 ratchet head will fit into, but you do not need a socket to remove it.Then you loosen the bolt and drain out as much tranny fluid as you can. Then you screw the bolt back on as tight as you can.Your going to add 3 quarts of oil where the tranny dipstick is in the engine bay. Then start up you car and let it run for ten mins. Then check the oil and make sure that it is still full. Finally you drive nice and easy to get the oil pushed all over the gears and you are good to go!

Just dont be stupid when working under ur car - use jack stands at the proper points, work on level ground, dont get her up higher than she needs to be, pull that ebrake, chock ur wheels - just remember where you are when your cranking on that bolt that wont budge.

use breaker bar or pipe extension instead of trying to put all your weight on a small ratchet and having the car shaking back and forth lol. also if your car is not lowered, its very easy to change auto trans fluid without even raising the car up.

nice, its good to do this stuff yourself and save $$ for other things. oil is not that much harder, just a different bolt to remove and a filter. you need to lift the car up in the front tho.
Re: Tired of being ripped off from Dealer
Been there already, I located the oil filter. I read on the manual that you need a special tool to remove the filter, Is that right?

Re: Tired of being ripped off from Dealer
yeah cause usually its too tight to remove by hand. most auto store have oil filter wrenches (either one size or adjustable), i like to use K&N filters because they have a socket nut on the end and are easy to remove. if you use honda filters, they have their own removal tool. check handaaccessories.com maint. section or your dealer.
