Backing up aids..?
Backing up aids..?
um.. so my limo tinted window makes it REALLY hard to see when im backing up in the early morning/night.. everyday i back out of my house i pray i don't accidentally hit a car in the back somewhere.. what should i do about this.. =D
oh i hate those Sensor thing.. because i'll have to put holes in my car.. (not a big fan).. and those things are noticeable.. i don't like attracting attention..
my idea is to install some LED strip.. (REALLY BRIGHT).. turn it on when backing up.. then turn it off when im driving..
or..
get some REALLY BRIGHT light for the backup light.. cuz that thing is useless to me.. but helpful to the other drivers..(but the cover would make no difference)

Re: Backing up aids..?
just get brighter bulbs but to be honest i have 2x brighter than stock raybrigs and still cant see anything even without tint. the backup lights are pretty much just for other cars to see you, not for you to see. unless you actually get some bright lights back there, youre stuck just looking out the window. and by the looks of it, youre not willing to spend much. otherwise i would recommend a single vision-x solstice solo led pod that uses 10w of power and outputs 800 lumens, about as bright as a halogen headlight bulb. costs about $110 each.
Re: Backing up aids..?
reversing is a HUGE pain in our cars if you have dark tint. its even worse in 01-02 models because the reverse lens is not clear like in 04-05 models.
the only other option you have without spending much money is to get some flat led strips and put them in locations that you wont really notice. it might work, but i think it will be ugly. if i HAD to find a place, i would stick a bright flat led tube right on the top edge of a license plate cover so its not really noticeable. then i would thread the wiring in through one of the screw holes maybe somehow. wiring would be very easy. a positive line running through your switch and to the battery. the negative side grounded anywhere.
i think that would be the least ugly and least noticeable though.
i personally open my door and look behind me as im backing out and that has worked for me so far.

Re: Backing up aids..?
i've never had a problem backing up...but i have problems judging the distance from my hood or side to the street. I cant even see the front of my car... then again Im Asian...
Re: Backing up aids..?
You could always roll down your windows. Also learning to drive is always helpful. I have 5% tints and its not really that hard to see at night. You really shouldnt tint your car at all if you arent used to it. I am so used to my car you could cover my back window with black paper and I would be able to park without hitting anything. Honestly there is nothing other then a backup camera and sensors that can help you at this point. Leds wont cut it.

Re: Backing up aids..?
they wont put out any light on the ground. its only for looks. even the honda oem fogs barely put out a few feet of light in front of the bumper, completely useless.

Re: Backing up aids..?
I bought my foglight kit for 40 bucks off of ebay... a lot of people got theirs off of ebay without any problem. I would replace the included fuse though, I had a bad experience with that.
