H22 Motor..?
H22 Motor..?
I am just trying to see which and quick motor i can get for the civic..
I just learned from u guys that our civics cant have a b series motors because of the em. laws.. How gay.. I still dont get it why..?
K20 is too much of money for a college student like me aka broke college student..
Now, i am wondering what about an h22 motor in our civic? Anyone on here has a h22 motor in their civic? Would it be hard to swap out to an h22 motor? I mean its a honda motor..
I need some power on the civic, that 1.7 just wont do enough for me..
Also update i got some tanabe springs and shocks... Waiting to get some more parts and cash then they going on the car.. Should be on it by end of next month... Pics going be on here..

Re: H22 Motor..?
As far as I know I havent seen a H22 in the 7th gen civic and not sure its really with the cost with all the customization. Also the last year the H22 was made was 2001 so your car would have to be an 01, if its a 02+ then the engine swap laws would make you SOL.
Re: H22 Motor..?
What do u mean by here we go?
Did i offend u with something? I did use the search and all i saw is the polls but nothing about the h22 fitting in the 02 dx... So before u start telling me to use the search, sometimes search doesnt not provide u with a right information Mr. Smarty..
Anyway back on the topic, Why my civic has to be an 01 to have a h22 in it.. I mean can someone explain these laws to me, cuz i see a 90s-99 civics with a 01 h22 in it all the time, how do they do it?
I found a h22 jdm for 1200 and tranny for a 500... The thing is, is it possible to do this swap in our civics..?

Re: H22 Motor..?
ronaldo is right, this has been covered many many times. Basicly the only engine worth putting in our cars is a K-Series. You COULD put a B or a H but it would have to be in an 01 chassis. Why?
Engine laws. You cannot put an engine older than the car if it was designed for that car(eg. 02 em2 with a 01H22=illegal) however a 99civic with a 01H22 is legal. The only way you can put an older engine in a new car is if that engine was designed for that car so a 02 D17 in a 05 civic is legal.
ALSO no one makes engine mounts for our civics for a B or H series engine, HASPORTS makes them for a K-Series. You could customize them but why when a K20 or K24 can make more power.
If im wrong please correct me but this is what I have gathered over a year on this fourm

You did not offend me I'm sorry for the way I came across. Everything ADMCIVIC said is right. Bottom line is don't don't think about it. Get a K series or an older generation civic if you want an h22.
Re: H22 Motor..?
Ok, thanks for explaining to me about the laws... Yea i understand now, Well i guess i am going to keep it daily driving car and make it look nice.. 10K is kind of high for me right now..
Ronaldo Its fine bro i thought i offended u with something i was like damn... Yea thanx for the explanation..

Re: H22 Motor..?
A k-swap can be accomplished for way less than 10k now. That is assuming you do the work yourself. It can be even cheaper if you are willing to start with a k20a3 and build it up later with a head swap. Do some searching around, start collecting parts and when you get all the parts do the swap. Check out k20a.org and just wait on good deals.
Re: H22 Motor..?
I was thinking about that too, get a basic rsx k20a3 then swap the heads, I dont think i am going be able to do the swap bymyself tho.
Also this came across my mind, what about a hacthback 02-05 civic si motor?
Anyways i got one car with the power already i guess i am going to spend my money on modifin the cl-s for now..

Re: H22 Motor..?
Yea, well if i come across the k20a3 i will probably get it... Ok, I got one more question for the tranny? What about the tranny i would need a k20a3 tranny too even if its 5spd..?
Re: H22 Motor..?
See.. that is exactly my point. You don't need to be in a huge hurry. Chill out and find some good deals. Yes, you need a k-series trans, but it doesn't have to be a k20a3 transmission. GO READ k20a.org
