Console Bulb Replacement: 2001 Civic
Console Bulb Replacement: 2001 Civic
Anyone know how to replace the bulb underneath the automatic shifter in an '01 Civic LX 2-door? The P/R/N/D/D3/2 doesn't light up on mine anymore - most people would probably ignore it, but I'm **** like that. Can you just remove the shifter handle and the bolts that anchor the whole console assembly to the floor, then lift it up; or is it more complicated? The dealer apparently didn't want to deal with it - they said it would cost $100+. Thanks for any input.

It's most likely a cheap and easy way to it if you take the time. In all honesty it will take you 40 minutes your first time. All you pretty much have to do is remove the console, and then take apart the shifter.

You can access the bulb with the basic trim panels removed at top. It is on the drivers side. Twist socket to left to release and pull out. Wedge base bulb #74.
