Re: Has anyone hate this about the Civic?

I agree with Tuned on this one, a larger armrest would just be out of place here.. I like the small one cause it's out of the way, and it's just the right size for my arm when I'm casually runnin through the gears. No - I am not a midget with special pedals

I will say though, I do like mine a lot more after I recovered it w/ some nice black vinyl from Joann Fabrics.. Cut the sides off and used the old fabric for extra padding - feels reeeal niiice..

Re: Has anyone hate this about the Civic?

Yeah.. it's really tiny and strange that there is only one instead of two. I know that the parking brake gets in the way for a passenger side but still.. somebody fix it!

And what's up with it only being available as an option? A frickin armrest should come standard <_<

I wish it was a bit bigger... I'm 6'6 and I've got long arms so I like to use the armrest because I can comfortably reach the shifter from it.

Re: Has anyone hate this about the Civic?

eh.. at least there someone who agrees.. someone need to make it a little bigger.. >.<

oh yeh i switched from a accord to civic so mayb that's why im not used to it...
and also the center console doesn't even have a top compartment.. so i have to go to walmart and buy an "external upper compartment kinda thing" to put it in the back, since our/mine civic rear passenger doesn't have that center bump in the back..

Re: Has anyone hate this about the Civic?

I thought the same thing when I first bought mine. But now I agree with the others here, it's actually just the right size for an elbow rest when you're flipping through gears. Or maybe just 7yrs and 165,000mi with the thing I've kind of grown into it.

If the only thing you can find to complain about is the stupid arm rest then Honda did a damn good job and building a car to please you.

I have other complaints, the arm rest is not one of them.

Yeah, I also switched from an Accord. The center console/armrest/storage/coin holder sort of thing is really convenient and the perfect size.

I'm sure the Civic's whole center console could have been designed better... the parking brake is in a bad position which prevents an armrest and the little storage area doesn't for storing anything of any heft when the parking brake is down because makes it hard to access.

And don't even get me started on trying to get your fingers into that little sliding door rectangle shaped storage area thing.

But I guess they're two separate cars and the Accord seems to have a lot more space to work with.

Re: Has anyone hate this about the Civic?

well, i think the e-brake location is good, but it should have been inset (same place just down lower so its almost flush with the rest of that console area). it would be nice to have a passenger armrest. i know its pissed me off not having one when im drunk and in the passenger seat with my gf driving. haha.

and that stupid little rectangle compartment with the sliding door under the armrest, i hate that thing, i think ive opened it 3 times in my entire life. i have a pen, stick of gum and pack of matches in there incase i ever have to make a bomb or weapon out of them like MacGyver would.

the only thing i really like about the armrest is that its the perfect length for my elbow to rest on while im shifting gears...dunno. i could see how the whole thing could have been made better.

No.. i don't keep crap in my car lol.

The only thing that is in there permanently that didn't come with the car is a pen in that little sliding compartment. Other than that, everything else comes with me when I leave.

I can't stand driving with all that crap around the shifter.

weird.. well i go to school so maybe those are things i like to have with me when im waiting through classes.. oh man talking about shifter why can't they put the shifter next to the steering wheel or something if its a "automatic transmission" like a van >.< save so much space!!

--------
honest thoughts here*

The only reason i got this civic because its a hybrid, and i needed a "old car" to put my cool DEH-7900 Radio on.. lol.. other than that its so inferior to the accord.. which is my dream "Honda" brand for my budget.. also i like the civic because of Need4Speed.. lol.. i remember when need4speed in the ps2/gamecube erra.. the fastest stocked car before upgrading to mazda was the civic.. .. after the Mazda miata was SkyLine..

ZETA armrest

https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...-arm-rest.html

They also make one for the 06+ civic

Also, depending on what kind you have, you can get the sedan version which has actualy compartments- my 01 lx coupe doesnt have an arm rest, or any compartments except for a small slot next to the ebrake.
