Giving an LX an EX header/exhaust...
Giving an LX an EX header/exhaust...
Is this even possible? Someone had told me I could have more exhaust options by doing this. Is this true? I would like to install better headers, hi-flo cat. conv., and muffler. But I am not sure if the "juice is worth the squeeze."
Re: Giving an LX an EX header/exhaust...
it is very easily possible and worth it yes. the header on an lx is completely different than the header on an ex, so if you are replacing ONLY a header, you must get an lx header to fit the rest of your exhaust system.
if you want to replace your header with an ex header, you will obviously have to get the full ex exhaust system as well. an ex header and lx header both bolt up to your engine exactly the same, so as long as you have the full ex system (header, downpipe, and full catback system) you will have a very straight forward install.
an ex header is shorter and the downpipe is longer, and on an lx, the header pipes are longer. its pretty simple. like i was saying though, as long as you have a full system of either, both systems will bolt up directly to your engine and go right to the exact same point at the back of the car.
triz has an excellent write-up on this thats about 15-20 pages long. its called 'the ultimate dx/lx header faq'
