Remove engine/trans assembly from top or bottom?

I have to pull engine and transmission from an lx coupe. Easier to pull from top? or bottom. I have floor jacks and hydraulic engine hoist (cherry picker).

Re: Remove engine/trans assembly from top or bottom?

It is a 1.7L base engine and auto transmission if that makes a difference.

Thanks

ive never come even near an attempt at it...but i remember following a thread for a while here about 2 years ago. you have to remove it from the top, but you also have to completely remove the hood from the vehicle(obviously) to do it.

the haynes manual says it should be removed from the top. I also second the removal of the hood as well and get a nice hoist.
