What is a resonable engine to switch to?

Hey People i have a 2003 civic LX coupe. I love the body but want more out of the engine. Can i get some feedback on what engine would give me power but not break the bank. ive been told an rsx type s engine is great to switch to but the cheapest i found it to be was 4 GRAND! Any thoughts? thanks

you can do it the right way with a K20 that will make great reliable power but is pretty expensive...

...or you can completely re-do the wiring, tranny, and get custom motor mounts and be like everyone else trying to throw B16s, B18s, and H22s inside a 7th gen lol.

the prices come out to about the same with one option giving you more headaches.
