HID question

i am thinking of getting hid for my 2004 civic. my question is do i need to get projector headlights or can i use the stock headlights? considering that the stock headlights weren't meant for this technology wouldn't the light beams bounce around every where making my headlights illegal? and would getting projectors fix this problem?

Re: HID question

yes, you can use the stock headlight housing for an hid kit. the only reason that the light is all bounced around and blinding people whenever someone installs it in a set of stock housing, is because they have it aimed all out of wack, or they dont bother aiming it at all. they just stick it in and go. thats a no no. ive have my hid kit installed in my stock housing for a 3rd year now, but i made sure i aimed it to the tee when i first installed, and i re-tweak the aim once every summer just to make sure everything is perfect. ive seen my car driving towards me before and it wasnt blinding or all over the place at all. you just have to do it properly.

as for projectors, 90% of the projectors for our cars are complete garbage and actually not only give less light output, but they direct less of it forward and you cant see anything up, or to either side. i know there are people who have placed an hid kit into that and said it got even worse. there are very few higher quality projectors out there (such as the tyc ones) so i wouldnt really recommend getting projecters + hids togethe unless youre going high quality.

your other option which will take a little bit of work is to take your stock housing and retro-fit a set of nice projectors in there. i am not completely sure which brand of projectors work the best...for some reason im thinking lexus projectors, but i know gearbox and a couple others have done this and they love it. im sure those would look good with an hid kit in them.

Re: HID question

check these guys out if you notice there HID bulbs are the same size as the stock bulb so there is dramatically less light scatter . www.mobilehid.com
