need pics of oem 01-03 headlight beam
like the title says, i need a beam shot of someone's untouched oem 01-03 headlights shining at a white wall from around 25 ft away. im trying to figure out how the left and right side are supposed to line up and wanna see how it comes from the factory. thanks for the help. if i line up the left cutoffs of each side, the right hotspot is higher up, but if i make them both visually even, then from far away one side looks brighter. so idk how its supposed to be.

I'll take my camera when I go out tonight. Is it going to kill you if I can't find a white wall?

Re: need pics of oem 01-03 headlight beam
I will try to get a pic of my 2001 pattern for you.
The OEM headlamp should have had the letters "VOL" or "VOR" on the lens. That is to tell you that the lower beam is to be visually/optically aimed using the left side (VOL) of the beam pattern, or the right side (VOR). If its a VOL lamp, then the cutoff on the left should be aligned to be 53 mm (2 inches) below the center of the lamp, when the vehicle is on a level surface and placed 7.62 meters (25 feet) from a vertical wall, and the beam is projected on that wall. If the lamp is a VOR, then the cutoff on the right side of the beam should be aligned to be the same height as the center of the lamp.

Re: need pics of oem 01-03 headlight beam
thanks guys, yeah night pics ofcourse lol. and dont take a long exposure so it just shows a white blob. i want details of the beam haha. doesnt have to be a white wall, just some material that you can see the beam clearly. red brick prolly wont work.
falken, this is how i did it, i aimed each one separately using the left side of cutoff (vol in the usa). but then the right side passenger beam looks like its too high because the hotspot is above the left side hotspot. the lights themselves are a very weird design, the left driver side has a huge hotspot and the right side has a tiny one with a small flare on the side. but together they sortof blend together i guess. i dont think the coupe lights are like this but rather both sides have the same normal beam and can be aligned easily.

I got the OEM setup completly untouched, I'll grab some pictures as soon as it gets dark.
EDIT: Here you go, sorry no white walls near me. If there were they would be covered in graffiti lol

Re: need pics of oem 01-03 headlight beam
would you mind taking another pic with lower exposure, so you can see more details? also is it from a coupe or sedan?
Re: need pics of oem 01-03 headlight beam
ill see if i can get a couple for you tomorrow night. mind you, ive removed my headlights, cleared them, reinstalled, and i have an hid kit. ive readjusted them though to accomodate my hid kit properly, but the beam patterns are still pretty visible, and are as good as i can get them. i adjusted them taking into account road bumps, distance, up/down hills, etc etc so nobody gets blinded. it might help give you an idea of what youre looking for.
p.s. - arent you already projector retrofitted? why are you messing with your light adjusting again?

Re: need pics of oem 01-03 headlight beam
went back to stock halogen headlights. hids were too bright and bothering everyone on the road (its very hilly here so it looks like im shining lights into ppls eyes all the time when the car points up). even tho they were aimed properly.
Re: need pics of oem 01-03 headlight beam
if i had untouched stock i would do it. i can still do it from 25 ft or so away if you want with my stock housings with hid kit installed. if that will help?

Re: need pics of oem 01-03 headlight beam
hmm thats interesting looks like the right side is maybe too high. would you be able to post one side at a time? like stand in front of one light and take pic of the other one. thanks
Re: need pics of oem 01-03 headlight beam
here are a few pics and each one is taken with a little bit different camera settings. i was 20 ft or so away. the whole light beam on the garage looks a bit low because i was not on the slightly angled driveway anymore. i was just past it on level ground. hopefully these help.
Re: need pics of oem 01-03 headlight beam
yea, but you also have to remember i have an hid kit installed, so my bulbs are completely different than regular bulbs. they have a curved metal reflective shield underneath and none ontop to give it a certain projection into the housing, so the entire light beam will be different than a regular bulb...not just in terms of brightness, but in light dispertion. dunno if those pics helped but the width + cutoff wasnt too different with regular bulbs compared to what you see there. its a nice top edge cutoff which i like compared to the sedans which seem to be kind of like a big blob of light.
Re: need pics of oem 01-03 headlight beam
there is a picture i uploaded of the type of bulb im talking about in this thread here: https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...m-01-03-a.html
you can see how that would disperse slightly different than a regular bulb in the housing.
