Re: my faux suede interior progress.

Re: my faux suede interior progress.
I'm currently trying to get this project started, I've got a few things in my way:
- put on summer wheels (just finished)
- remove and reapply suede armrest cover
- install shift boot adapter
- install aluminum pedals
- finish carpeting custom trunk floor
- install custom plugins to car PC for multimedia
Then there might be a few minutes on the side to look at the headliner, unfortunately I'm swamped working on my car 4 hours a day to get ready for the Driven 2009 show. I'd love to get it done for the show June 13 and I even got a friend with a sewing machine to sew up the visor covers, I just don't have the time with my stupid job eating 8 hours a day.

Re: my faux suede interior progress.
In the Si, the boot clips to the shift **** and in the lower models it actually uses a zip tie to stay up to the ****. If you change to an aluminum aftermarket **** like I did, then there's no place to attach the zip tie and the boot falls down to the bottom of the shifter, exposing the shifter itself. So in order to keep the boot up, you can use something like this:

It's got a groove in it that you can attach the zip tie to and it sits flush against the bottom of your aftermarket shift ****. I bought mine from www.strutking.com along with a set of pedals, he's got a bunch of cool stuff that he machines out of aluminum. I'm going to order the shifter cable bushings when I get more money.
Re: my faux suede interior progress.
WOW! ive been needing something like that, i just pulled my boot up a little more, folded it over, and zip tied it tight. i can still kinda feel the zip tie, but i havnt had any problems and its been on there for a few months

Can do but it might be a while before I get the Revo. Been looking at it for over a year and still no cash. I had a guy offer to buy it for me in return for installing his but turned it down because I'm a nice guy and did it for free....

yo dex, i was searching around on the diy's and came across this, seems cheaper then the shift boot adapter you were looking at and it's oem. i found it under the diy's under interior then shift ****/boot fix

Re: my faux suede interior progress.
Oh man, it just folds up around the glass area. The headliner should still only be clipped in around that area, there's no way for them to secure it with screws or anything that can't be pulled out. So just pull on it and it should pop down. Then when you put the fabric on, just make sure you have excess in that area to fold it up around the edges. Pretty much like a big dome light, same way.
Re: my faux suede interior progress.
cool cool. and u guys said u sewed ur visors. i saw on another thread that u can pop them open like a clam shell and do it that way w/o having to sew (i think theres no sewing that way)

this is the thread i was talking about, should be page 4 that shows pics of it too https://www.civicforums.com/forums/7...adliner-4.html
Re: my faux suede interior progress.
seeeee..seems pretty easy, and that way i dont have to use my chitty sewing skills, and it still looks factory, except my visor will be orange sude and not thin crappy grey fabric

Re: my faux suede interior progress.
dam im finally done and everything is installed and i have to say it came out better then i thought it would.ill take some pics when it stops raining .the onley downside is there is like an optical illusion that makes it feel smaller in the car but ill get over that.i also need to get some moisture and UV protection on there so all my hard work will last.
Re: my faux suede interior progress.
Very nice...I just think you should replace those tan mirror covers and the parts around the visor with either the gray ones or make them black.

Re: my faux suede interior progress.
i was going to do that at first but i kinda like it that way it kind off ties the rest of the interior together. maybe ill hit up some auto yards and see if i can find some black ones maybe even the rest of the trim and seats.

Re: my faux suede interior progress.
I got some mirrors already taken apart with all the tan hardware and ready for wrapping. I'll trade anyone for their stock ones- I'm putting my headliner and mirrors back to stock. PM me.
BTW- lowlife, interior looks pretty nice =)

Re: my faux suede interior progress.
ive been searching for a long time for a product that will prevent my fake suede from dulling from UV rays and only found a product from 303 called high tech fabric guard so i bought it for 25 bucks from auto geek . upon receiving the spray it says not to use on synthetic suede something the web site faild to mention . does anyone know of a product specifically made for fake suede or something that wont damage it.
