HID problem

I'm having a problem with my HIDs that I just got. I put them in TYC projectors and got them aimed ok with a decent cutoff. But the problem is that they turn off when I hit my high beams - not good for the ballasts! How can I wire them so they don't do this? I'm not sure if my car has DRLs, I don't think it does. It's a 2003 LX.

I cut my old wiring plug off and wired directly to the power for the HID. It does have a relay and I have halogen high beams.

Here is my kit... http://www.xenonexpert.com/ddm_kit.html It's the 35 watt kit.

I'm not sure if the car is positive or negative switched. I've tried running the 12v (red) line with the low beam (red/yel) line to power on the HIDs, I've tried running the red, red/yellow, red/blue lines all together and they all stay on no matter how I switch the lights. I tried running the low beam line to the relay, the power line to the relay, and nothing is working... Can anyone help with a schematic?

Re: HID problem

find the trigger wire for your relay. this is the low voltage signal that opens the relay and draws power from battery. tap the trigger wire to the +12v constant on headlight wire. depending on the side, it will either be a red or red/yel wire. then the relay will stay on in both lo and hi beam modes. here is the basic diagram for the entire new relay harness.

Re: HID problem

Here is a schematic of my setup, someone suggested connecting the lo beam trigger wire and the high beam trigger wire and putting a diode in the high beam wire to prevent backflow. Would that work? I don't know where to connect the red wires coming out of the high beams to then? Do I need another relay? Or should I rewire this one? Can someone just explain which wires go to which part of the relay so my HID stays on with high beams... thanks

Re: HID problem

yeah best to disable the drl, but that does not have anything to do with the wiring part. my pic only has one relay in the middle. just to be clear, this is an entirely new harness with thick wire that bypasses the old one completely (except you tap the trigger to the oem 12v headlight wire at the H4 connector).

you only need to tap the trigger wire to ONE of the 12v hot wires, all other oem wires (lo/hi) are not used. depending whether its driver or passenger headlight harness, it is either a red or a red/yel wire. one or the other.

Re: HID problem

Ok so what powers my high beams, your schematic doesn't show that. My high beams are separate. Some one suggested tapping my hi and low beam trigger wires together and putting a diode before the tap in the high beam wire, and using that wire as a lead for the HID.

Re: HID problem

Will this work to keep the HID on with the high beams?
