changing bulbs. dummy bulb in circular housing?

So my oem bulbs finally gave out, I picked up some piaa intense white bulbs, theyre great. While i was changing them, I noticed between the main headlight and amber corners.. there's that circular bulb housing. There's a bulb in it. But no electrical connector (from what I could see) behind it. Why is that dummy bulb there? Is that used in foreign civics? is there a way to get it working?

I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about and why it's there and theres a bulb in it but it doesnt really work. But just in case here's a link to the picture and obviously its the circular one in the middle. What is it for???

yeah every civic foreign or in the usa uses it. its a parking light that comes on with the corner light. some people unplug theirs, so i bet the connector is somewhere inside if you feel around for it. it uses a clear 168 bulb.

From what i've found, the 01-03s actually use a separate bulb where as the 04s and higher do not. Apparently, from the instructions in the haynes manual, they aren't exactly the easiest thing to replace or access. I believe you have to take the front fender liners off and take the front wheels off in order to access both the parking and turn signal bulbs.

Re: changing bulbs. dummy bulb in circular housing?

you just have to disconnect the mud guard from your fender then you should be able to reach up in there, that harness is pretty much right there once you disconnect the mud guard, just twist and pull out the change the bulb and put in then twist. it may seem like a bitch just readin about it but it's fairly simple and easy.

my question is, if the car comes like this whether being foreign or domestic and some people unplug that bulb, why? what started that trend?

some people here only like amber park light instead of amber and clear together. overseas, they actually cannot have amber park legally so their cars only have the clear park light on.
