Sorry I meant the D17A2, thats the V-tec 1.7 litre 127 hp motor right? well thats the one im talking about. Do you people thinks civics with that motor (stock) are really slow cars? Id like to know what you ppl think of that...

ya its slow, an EX vtec with auto trans puts out about 90whp to the wheels. manual trans maybe 100 whp. i normally cannot even use 4th gear because it wont be able to climb the gentle hills in my area.

you can compete with geo metro, maybe toyota echo, and some other old cars. maybe even a scion xb (the first gen old model not the fast new one). keep in mind you barely have 100hp with the civic. most comparable cars around the same class have 125-140. so dont get too cocky lol

I just bought my son an '01 LX and we took it to church on Saturday. We had 5 people in the car and were about 25 pounds shy of the GVWR. You should have heard him complain about going up the hill prior to our house. He is used to driving my V8 pickup or my 328i.

Idk, i dont think it's as bad as ya'll are sayin. I've put down 6cyl mustangs,camaros, VR6jetta, not to sound like a hard a$$, but yeah, pirus's are not a problem either. Idk, i swear my cars magical, and aftermarket, but still, believe me or not, i've done it and im fairly happy. It's peppy and fun, so i'm cool with my lil A2

Lol my parents (97 and 98)Subaru Legacy and Outback wagon Auto can beat my 04 Ex mt easy. Anyway I still like the Civic I had a Legacy GT that I sold because gas mileage and fuel economy was more important to me so I did a good choice I guess LOL. If only it had K20A3 for the EX it would me alot more fun.

I jsut traded in my red 02 ex coupe for a white 05 ex coupe and I love them both. They may not be good in the quarer mile but they are very fun to drive on curvy back roads. Besides if you are a good driver with a MT you can smoke crapy drivers in better cars. Horsepower isn't everything

I know somebody who owns 2 7th gen civics. One is a 2003 DX coupe auto and the other is a 2004 LX sedan. They say that the LX is mad slow and has trouble making it up some hills and they say that there DX takes off good and has no problems with making it up hill. Both of the cars have D17a1 non vtec engines in them. I think it all depends on how ur civic was built and how many people you have in the car with you.

DX is way lighter because it has power NOTHING lol. and no moonroof or a/c. if you want to make a faster civic, the dx is the best starting point because of how light it is and with a bit of weight reduction mods, it will feel much faster than other models.

you guys are crazy. yeah civics dont have too much horsepower but my 04 dx manual beat cobalts, neons, accords, v6 mustangs and camaros. just the other day i spanked a new nissan titan. these little civics are faster than they seem. i used to talk crap about the little tiny 100 hp civics but you would be surpirsed.

not to brag but i love my civic. it may not be fast in a line but imo its quicker in curves than most other cars in its class. like my brother-in-laws cobolt, my other brother-in-laws sunfire, or my friends celica. or even my friends ford F250. he said his V6 F250 would out run my lil 4 banger. and i replyed "once i hit those turns, you will never catch me". sure enough once i hit them, i was gone. ill keep my vic, but if i want power and acceleration, ill go ride my R6.
