auto transmission swap

folks apparently my 2001 ex transmission died so i need to put in another one. should i find a direct replacement or throw in another transmission? also a friend was telling me that a 6th gen civic (EK3) transmission can work in place of the 7th gen. is this true?

Re: auto transmission swap

The only tranny that will fit on your d17 is another d17 tranny. U can find them for cheap u just gotta look around. If u can find an 04-05 tranny get one b/c they are built much better than the 01-03 and its a direct swap.

Re: auto transmission swap

Should still be a D17 motor no matter where your from... Can you take a pic of your motor? Are you possitive its a 2001? 10th digit on your VIN is what year the car is.
