Re: under the hood
Find a steam cleaner and spend a few hours in there getting personal, then use some hyper dressing, will look like new.

Re: under the hood
i would just use some degreaser and work one section at a time. no need to spray water and possibly ruin things. engine bay wasnt designed to get wet. most of the time you just need some degreaser and a rag. and maybe some plastic protectant and metal polish if you wanna get it ready to show or something.
Re: under the hood
if you have an open filter, obviously cover it with a plastic bag. you can also do the alternator if you'd like, everything else shouldn't matter, don't do it when its hot! Spray some simple green and wait 10 or so minutes, then hose it off. Then go in and wipe it down, on the plastic pieces use back to black or tire shine or something along those lines.
Re: under the hood
like gearbox, i also only use degreaser. i do however use water though. just spray degreaser all over and leave it for a few minutes, id say 4-5 minutes should be alright. once youve done that give it a light spray, or a spray from a bit of a distance and you should be ok. just make sure you put a plastic bag and tape it up around your air filter and around your alternator, you should be just fine. nothing else in your engine bay will get much harm from some water. at least ive never had a problem doing it this way and i do it in the spring, middle of summer, and fall...3 times a year.
