disabling the AC when blowing to windshield

Does anyone know if you can disable the AC function when running the fan at the windshield? I have an '02 SI and the AC function automatically comes on when the fan is set to the windshield. You can't shut off the AC by pressing the AC button. It's like a set function.

Re: disabling the AC when blowing to windshield

There's a thread on this already. Just do a search.

The solution didn't work for me though, I'm guessing it worked for others though.

Re: disabling the AC when blowing to windshield

the question is why would you want to?? Doesn't the AC help get the moisture out of the air? Hence, defog the windshield quicker...

Re: disabling the AC when blowing to windshield

not everyone lives in a humid climate. most of the time, ac isnt needed for defrosting, just heat. what do people without a/c do? they just crack open the windows a bit and turn the heat on it works. i used to live in a very humid place and i rarely used the a/c with defrost, and never used the rear defrost for the past 4 yrs.

Re: disabling the AC when blowing to windshield

Portland is soaked with rain all the time, and also with all this snow I've been having to put my defroster on every time I get in the car and also to melt the ice at night... its getting ridiculous and old... I want summer to come back and show its face. Everything is better in summer.
