running like ****. p1259

okay so heres a few days ago my check engine light came on and i took it to advanced auto. and it came up as p1259 air fuel metering on the scan tool. but everwhere on here it says vtec malfunction. i have a d17a2. it wont let me go over 4000rpm's and when im in between 3000 and 4000 i hear a clicking noise.
auto place said it could be MAP, TPS. or a temp sensor. i goto school for auto tech and were out of school for a week and i cant get a good scan tool till then to find what exact sensor it is. and i dnt have a DVM or a fluke. this started to happen after i put my subs and amp in. any help?

Re: running like ****. p1259

you can take off the solenoid and see if there are any particles in the filter screen. if not, its either the solenoid on top or the oil pressure switch. its prolly just easier to replace the whole piece.

Re: running like ****. p1259

okay so i went to buy the pressure switch. 90 bucks. no biggie.
they ran the diagnostic machine on it; the honda one.they tested the vtec out after they cleared the code. the vtec ran fine while being diagnosed. and they said its running normal. now sometimes the car lets me go over 4000rpm and when it dose i floor it to about 6 and at 6000 i can feel the vtec kick in for a second. then it puts in safe mode again after a min and cant go over 4000. do you still think its the pressure swich.?
