Air intake Compatibility
I am a noob, and have to spend some more time exploring this site....but I still have a question.
I have a 2003 Honda Civic Sport, and I was wondering: will a K&N Cold air intake from an '04 Si fit my engine? thanks to all who can help with this! (I am trying to get a part number, but for now that is all the information I have).
If I put this in, do I need to do anything besides just put it in? thanks!

Re: Air intake Compatibility
Wait, he is in Canada. I'm almost certain that it will fit. The Si in Canada is the EX in the USA. So, basically he is asking if the EX intake will fit the DX/LX. Is that correct?
Re: Air intake Compatibility
rae_man, when you say the si, do you mean the american si, which we call the si-r in canada? or is it from a canadian si which looks like your civic.
if its a canadian si it has the same engine as yours does (1.7l) so yes it will fit. if its an si-r (the hatchback), it wont really work because it has a 2.0l engine and the intake is completely different.
and once you put it in, you dont need to do anything else no. just remove your stock intake system and replace it with your new one.

Re: Air intake Compatibility
ok, so now I am really going to be nonsensical (is that a word?)?
I am still on the prowl for a CAI, so maybe someone can give me a more general answer when I see a CAI for sale. here it goes;
What years / engine CAIs compatible with my 2003 1.7L? I just keep seeing random CAI for sale, and they are off of different years. This will help me for when I am shopping around.
If this question is too general for someone to answer reasonably, let me know a better way of asking or just answer in a way that IS reasonable!
Thanks a ton! you guys are great!

Re: Air intake Compatibility
the engine youre finding an intake for is a d17 engine. its a 1.7l and its from 2001-2005.
id recommend going with a short ram intake, especially with where you live. with a sri compared to a cai, youll never risk having a problem with hydro-locking and when it comes to performance, you wont notice a difference between the two. not in our cars anyway.
if you look around on the website there will be a million pictures of people with short ram intakes and cold air intakes, so youll be able to see how the intake should look (the shape, length, bends, etc.). if youre standing in front of your vehicle, the intake should come slightly up, then head towards the passenger side, then bend and come towards the front of the car.
