please help. dad crashed into my rear bumper ><

Hey guys. Its my first time here and I'd appreciate any help i could get. So my dad was backing out today next to my car with an old van and somehow hit the back left side of my 2005 LX SE sedan. I was watching tv when he told me. Its never pleasant when someone says they messed up your car pretty bad ><.The impact ripped a piece of plastic about a foot long so its hanging on one side and free on 3 sides (like a peninsula) Luckily, it seems that only the rear bumper was damaged on the side. The metal inside is dented slightly at one spot (like a golf ball hit it), but otherwise seems fine) I'm kinda poor and was wondering if I could replace the bumper myself.
So i have a couple questions please.

1) could I do this myself and should I?
2) Would fixing it myself create any safety concerns? (like, make the car unsafe).
3) I went to the honda parts store and the bumper costs $191. But there is no color option. Does this mean I need to have it painted separately?
4) there are a bunch of other parts along with the bumper on the honda estore like spacers and bolts, etc. Can I just reuse my old ones?
5) just any general advice, instructions, etc?

thanks guys! i know it was kinda a long post.

yeah you have to get it painted too. usually new bumper and paint is around $600 if you buy it and have it painted, then install yourself. its not too hard to install, just some clips and bolts and screws around it. if the metal part where the bumper attaches to is messed up, it may require a body shop to rebend it to the proper place.

Your crappy Honda alarm will go off only when it senses a draw of 12v current such as the dome light going on. So its useless.

I was driving at 1am and looking out for deer; missed a flat piece of metal; it was kicked up from the front tire into the rear tire and straight out the back bumper. I waited until a warm(ish) day and got some soapy water and clear two part epoxy (its like $4) with a little TLC and some hot water I was able to bend/push back the plastic "flaps" on my bumper. almost like a puzzle peice; I was lucky. just use a small amount of the epoxy; you dont want your bumper to look like a fat kids s'more. I was able to get all the flaps back to a point where the it was a very slim seam line and only wax/dirt would show it. my buddy convinced me NOT to buy a bumper and pay out the a$$ for it to be painted/installed. I'm happy I listened to him as a year later I got rear-ended and she paid to have a new one installed + new quartr wheel/rim/suspension/exhaust/speakers.....lets just say her insurance put in 8K just 600 shy of a total. long story short (shut it i know its rediculously long) if its 'ok' fix it yourself if you can...fate will have someone hit u eventually then your all set -K
