Traded the Vic yesterday

Well, I finally traded my 01 vic yesterday.

I needed something that got good gas mileage, roomier, and well had more power than what the vic had.

I stayed so cramped up driving the civic every day it was causing my knee some problems, plus I needed somthing that had more room for my work.

I looked at several vehicles: element, scion xb, scion xd, before I picked up a "new" used 2003 Toyota Matrix XRS 6-speed.

But on the plus side I know my car went to a good home when I traded it in, my girlfriend bought the civic 5 minutes after I traded it in.

A friend of mine at Toyota found the XRS for me, and did the deal. They were originally going to give me $3,300 for my car (01 with 158,000 miles and had previously been CRUSHED in a accident with a '78 blazer). My girlfriend offered to buy it for the same amount, because she was in need of a good car after she was run off the road about 2 months ago flipping 3 times.

So my friend at toyota said that they would give me $3,105 (3300 - 195 doc fee), so I could get the tax break on the XRS and sell it to her for the $3105 + 195 doc fee ($3,300). So it was just a pass through for them.

The XRS is FUN to drive, having the same engine as a celica GT-S, and being a toyota, its going to last and be just as reliable as the honda.

RallyeRedRider has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Re: Traded the Vic yesterday

Why didn't you save your GF the extra $200 and just sell it directly to her. The "Dock Fee" stands for, "another way to take your $"

Re: Traded the Vic yesterday

yea im not too sure i understand that. why didnt you just sell it to her straight up?

if they gave you 3105 in total, and took 3300 from her, they made 195 for doing nothing...or she lost 195 to them.

you said it was for the tax break...did that bring your total cost down by more than 195? if it did, then it makes sense.

Re: Traded the Vic yesterday

even with the 195 knocked off the amount they were selling it to me for, it still saved me $300 in taxes. 10% taxes here.
