Stainless steel oem type catback system for $150 or less?

I bought a stainless steel "JDM catback system-4.5 inch exhaust" from ebay, recently. It's pretty nice, but i'm not really looking for that racing car sound or that huge exhaust. Is there any place I can find a good new one for cheap. I DON'T want performance. My current one is loud, even when it's completely silenced. T_T
Anyone know of such a catback system? I'm looking for OEM performance, because I don't care about that, only in stainless steel. I have an '01 coupe EX. Thanks!

well you wont really find a good quality one for 150 or less...even if its used. there arent all that many 'quiet' catbacks for our cars, but if you want something specific out of it like just that right tone, youre going to have to go with something like a magnaflow or skunk2....neither of which are very quiet. dont know what to tell you unless youre willing to spend more money.

Re: Stainless steel catback system for $150 or less?

Sorry, i'm a total n00b, so i don't know. what if just want something like the stock catback (or is the stock not considered a catback?) except in stainless steel? Basically, my stock exhaust pipe was rusting, so i just need a new stainless steel pipe. Any suggestions on that?

I bought the car used, and some idiot used to own be before. he let the exhaust pipe rust through, then he cut the end off and welded a weird piece of metal at the end. I didn't feel comfortable leaving it like that. (Plus, it aso looked very ugly.) -_-
I pretty much need a new oem type system. I want it to be stainless, so i don't have to worry about it catching rust later. Anyone know what i'm talking about? (Thanks! )

Re: Stainless steel oem type catback system for $150 or less?

well... i'd suggest getting a new oem exhaust all the way from the cat..back. Then you could get an OEM stainless steel tip from Honda.. and attach that on the end. The sound wont change at all, but itll look better, and wont rust.

Another suggestion is looking for the RSR ExMag stainless catback system.. Its gorgeous looking.. its got a nice tone, but still very quiet and subtle and looks great. Oem size.. a little bit bigger.

Either way be looking to spend more than $150. Ebay exhausts are terrible, stay away no matter what the ads say.

one other option is i know ive seen guys on here offering to sell their stock exhaust systems, maybe you can find someone that still has it and is willing to ship it all?

the only problem is if your old one rusted through, another stock one probably will as well. it sounds like you live somewhere that a lot of salt is used or something.

Paint would solve that problem, I would just use header paint....anything made for high temps. Sure, it could chip, but its MUCH better than nothing.

I live in the northeast by the way and my oem one wasn't rusted bad at all, tons of salt here.

Wow, the RSR exhaust is $560. There aren't any within the $200 range, are there?

Re: Stainless steel oem type catback system for $150 or less?

yeah most of them cost in that range... the 450-600 area.

the 200$ range? not a chance. you wont find anything like that for anywhere near the 200 range. if you want to get what youre looking for, thats what youre going to have to spend if you want the stainless steel. again, in my opinion thats a waste of 5-600$ and all completely pointless if you have NO desire to get anything out of it, ie. looks, performance, proper sound etc.. except the comfort of knowing it wont rust through. you can just look around and see if someone on here has a stock exhaust that you can pick up way way cheaper, and (i never thought of this but its a great idea...) pick up some high temp paint that you would use on your header like ryox82 said. that would help solve the problem. dont go spending that much money just for the fact that you want an exhaust that wont rust through. it sounds like the guy before you put it through hell...

you sure he didnt drive it through the saltwater pacific straight from japan? haha

if ur just looking to replace the pipes check out a local muffler shop. a couple years ago i had an 01 and the exhaust pipe broke. the "flex pipe" it needed was like 300 bucks but a local shop made their own pipe and out the door it was like 130 bucks.
