DC Sports or Magnaflow

as far as cat-back goes. which is the better system as far as performance and NON ricer sound? DC Sports #SCS7027 or Magnaflow #15712. are they both 2.25" ? The DC Sports page is under construction.

thanks.

Re: DC Sports or Magnaflow

performance is going to be the same across the board really, exhaust doesn't do much. I love the welds and the way my DC has held up. The sound is really good, not too loud but when you got it to the wood it gets loud. I don't have a cat and I have a dc 421 header now tho. With a cat it sounded really quiet and clean. My 2 cents, i'm sure someone will disagree...

Re: DC Sports or Magnaflow

thanks. i was also recomended Tanabe. i was told the dc sport exhaust is a little higher pitched than the magnaflow or tanabe. but i can get the dc for a really reasonable price.

Re: DC Sports or Magnaflow

if ur lookin for "performance" and a low price try to find a used exhaust on the forum. but all caatbacks will give you the same performance. but if you get a header you notice a diff.

Re: DC Sports or Magnaflow

thing is..i don't want my ride to sound very "ricer". i think i'm going to hold off on the dc sport cat back. i can get my hands on the magnaflow catback for under $400 shipped. the tanabe seems to be the pricey one out of the three at the moment.

Re: DC Sports or Magnaflow

well....just throwing this out there but you might like this.

i was browsing ebay and seen this deal for a real Megan racing combo deal. it was a megan header, megan downpipe with cat, and a megan racing catback exhaust and it was around 500$ in total if i remember (dont know about shipping).

its a great company that makes good products...so if youre willing to spend 4 or 500 as it is, whynot get a header (can be up to 2-300 alone) and a downpipe (around 100-150) as well?

as far as i know the ad said it was all real legit megan racing and wasnt fake knockoff crap. they had some pictures.

Re: DC Sports or Magnaflow

cat backs dont sound ricey at all untill you get a cat. i have a tsudo off ebay for 150 and it sounded great, nice and low tone, until i got my header then all that rice started pouring out.

but i kept the header on even though it was ricey cuz it did give it a little more power. i guess our cats are very restrictive.

Re: DC Sports or Magnaflow

you have a tsudo N1 catback too? i dont hear of very many other guys on here that run them. i have one too.

i personally think they sound better than any other catback ive seen or heard and ill stand behind that. ive had mine for 3 years now and it sounds, as nice and deep and non ricey as it did the day i got it. theyre quiet and give a really really deep tone when you rev. ive seen them on video and they dont sound like that in person...well not mine anyway. excellent quality in my opinion.

the only crappy thing is when i got mine, they hadnt been out for very long and i paid about 400 in total for it. at the time and even until now, for what i got, i still think it was well worth it (even though you can get them for like 200$ now!)

i like my tsudo too. i dont see the point in spending 400-500 on a name brand exhaust when you get a good sounding tsudo for cheap.

i cant wait to hear it after i throw my turbo on. 1 more week!!!
tsudo ftw

i agree. though at the time when i got it, it wasnt very much cheaper than anything else. i researched and seen nothing but good feedback about them so i decided id risk it. im glad i did....but now to see them this cheap makes me wonder how anyone could go wrong with one.

anyway...the turbo...nice. what kind of kit did you get? what parts? sizes? specs?

what are you running as a management system?

Re: DC Sports or Magnaflow

i havent heard much about ebay turbo kits lately. soooo i got 1 for 600 for the 96-00 civic. ordered the parts to make it fit my car, turbo header, etc. i know a guy at a shop that will hook me up with piping that fits or modify mine to fit. anyway emanage comin next week. turbo is t3t4 50 trim. exturnal waste gate 8 psi. hks ssqv knock off bov (lol). walbro 255. wideband. and other lil ****.
all off ebay. i spent like 1400 total.

lets see if it works.
ill put up pics as the build progresses.

Re: DC Sports or Magnaflow

those particular turbos are pretty much copied from a garrett turbo. same with the bov copied from the hks. same designs, just not sure about the quality...either way good luck with it man...make sure you keep us updated, or at least me. i want to know how that goes.

the only crappy thing about the e-manage is that you have to buy all the harnesses you need one at a time.

when i was going to get my kit installed a couple months ago, i was going to go with that new aem system that has only been out for a few months, its only about 4-500$ and its fully universal and ive heard nothing but good about it so far.

just remember to make sure they do something about your injectors, especially if you plan to go around 8 psi...like some srt-4, rsx, or deatschworks injectors...something similar.

keep it posted man

Re: DC Sports or Magnaflow

thanks. i did. i like the sound of the tsudo N1. but i read 2.5" is a bit much for the d17's. i don't see .25" making that much of a difference. but then again i'm no expert on exhausts.

Re: DC Sports or Magnaflow

it sounds good in that video, but for some reason it sounds a little bit different than that in person...it sounds a lot deeper. nicer than that vid.

anyway, 2.5" is perfectly fine for our cars. you shouldnt ever hear a pop or backfire sound, even when gearing down. at least i never have...

the nicest thing about it is when the car is just sitting idle you barely hear anything. its not that loud, but once you start driving it goes a louder, but stays nice and deep. it also comes with an adjustable silencer that you can change the setting on.

performance-wise...like any other catback system...how much do you really expect to get out of our cars. it compares in performance to any other system youll get.

Re: DC Sports or Magnaflow

oh, before i forget...

if you have just a stock body, you should be perfectly fine.

if you have either a body kit or a lip kit, this catback system (like any others obviously) is not really made to fit under or into 'all' kits. its made to accommodate a stock body. if you do run either a lip kit or a body kit, it might be a wise idea to heat up and try to stretch out your rubber hangers a little bit, or to get ones that are a slight bit longer.

i have a lip kit so everything sits a bit lower, and the bottom of my lip kit was touching against the top of the muffler so i got a spot that burned slightly when i went on a 2 hour road trip (hard to see unless youre down low). either way, it hasnt burned any worse in the entire time ive had the system, than it did in that first week. so its kind of pointless now to get under and start screwing with my hangers until i get a new rear lip. just trying to save you from getting annoyed later on like i was when i seen the burn mark.

Re: DC Sports or Magnaflow

2.5 in my opinion is too big for our cars. The WS2 is which far superb to the tsudo is 2.36 and it's that diameter for a reason. Too big and you lose power. Unless you go boost I think 2.5 will just sound like a fart can when the exhaust begins to wear. The cheapo exhaust is not the same as name brand. Ask yourself this would you pick the ugly girl over the pretty girl, yes they are the same but the quality is much different. You have to pay to play. I think you just wasted your money on a TSUDO replica.
