maintenance requirement
is it normal for the maintenance requirement alert to blink a few times and then go away when I start up my engine?
My SRS side airbag alert also comes on at times but then just goes away...

Re: maintenance requirement
It just means that your near a "scheduled" maintenance at the dealership.
to remove it, all you have to do is turn the car off then, hold the trip button for about 20 secs with the car in the on position, then turn off, then start car completely and remove finger from trip button.

Re: maintenance requirement
is it trying to alert me something is wrong? or is it because of my sudden increase in mileage? Could it be warning me of a transmission issue or something?
I've noticed a sudden decrease in acceleration and the car seems louder in general - or it could be my new exhaust finally broke in.
Thanks

Re: maintenance requirement
Yea, the maintenance light just reminds you of your next scheduled maintenance. It just flashes when your car is turned on for the first x number of miles which I'm not too sure of, I'm guessing around 250 miles or so. If you get too lazy and don't reset it yourself, it stops flashing when your car is turned on and eventually it will just stay solid. It's nothing really to worry about, just follow those resetting instructions in your manual.
I think the lack of acceleration or power is just weird timing and it must be something else. It won't have anything to do with the maintenance or srs lights.
I think with the srs light, they usually do give a flash or two when the vehicle is turned on and it's nothing really to worry about either until maybe it turns completely solid and stays on while you're driving.
I wonder what the deal is with your car being that much louder though. Maybe it is just timing again and it is your exhaust being broken in. What kind of exhaust is it? How long have you had it for?

Re: maintenance requirement
its a greddy sp2 - it was installed 2 weeks ago or so but I didn't really do any hard highway driving until lately - shortly after it sounds a lot louder. Before I was driving below 60 mph.
Well the SRS side air bag light appears during random times and stays on for a minute or two and then just disappears.
could the lack of power just be from a bad tank of gas? i'm going to try to run a fuel injector cleaner.

Re: maintenance requirement
Nope, just like he said. Its scheduled to come on every so miles. To remind you to do your regular maint. It should say in your owners manual how to turn it off or this should help...

its a sticky dude!

exhaust does "break in."
and all lights including the SRS light come on when you start the car, for a "second" not a minute.

Re: maintenance requirement
well the SRS side air bag light comes on while I'm driving or when I just parked... it varies and is very random but turns off by itself within a minute or two
Re: maintenance requirement
When I turn my car on, everything all comes on for a split second, but then the srs stays there for probably 4 or 5 seconds after that then goes off, and I think that's normal. But yeah, I agree, that's not normal, no idea why it comes on while youre driving.
This might be far out...but has your car ever been hit anywhere? like that could have maybe bumped or knocked a sensor or something? I dunno.
