When to go in for the next req. maintenance
When to go in for the next req. maintenance
I got this 2005 Civic a couple of months ago. It's standard transmission and it wasn't driven a lot. I really don't know when should I take it in for maintenance as the schedule is very messed up at this point - please see attachment. The car has 40.000km right now and it's 40 months old.
So the car requires service every 8000km or 5000mi or every 4 months. It's been 6000km or 3700mi and 7 months since its last service. Is it time for the next service?

Re: When to go in for the next req. maintenance
I don't see the point in paying them so much, just to check stuff.
Just follow the maintenance guidlines in the owner's manual. The only thing you would look at replacing would be oil and oil filter every 3k miles; Air filter and cabin filter when they are due; brake pads when they wear down; drain/refil MTF by the book...

Re: When to go in for the next req. maintenance
Everyone would say something different...
If the car isn't driven the recommended KM for oil change, then the 6 months should work. But most people drive more than the recommended KM change interval, so you may want to consider doing it based on mileage instead of months. Pretty much the cleaner you keep your oil, the longer the engine should last.

Re: When to go in for the next req. maintenance
Thank you for your quick answer Jimmy. Yes, the reason I asked is because I don't drive that much so I will probably have to change the oil based on time intervals rather than mileage. Thanks again!
Re: When to go in for the next req. maintenance
No problem...I would recommend using a good synthetic oil and quality oil filter if you are going to go the 6 month route. Synthetic oil costs more, but will last longer. Don't forget to check your oil on a regular basis to make sure it is full and not getting too dirty. And I would keep track of your mileage incase your mileage is high for a certain 6 month period.
