civic-king is an unknown quantity at this point

what is the diff. in d17?

i'm looking for a new engine. i see that i can get one from 01, 02, and 03-05.
what is the difference in these engines? any mounting or wiring problems, or are these people just crazy?

d17a1 and d17a2, no diff between the years, just vtec and non vtec

There are ECU differences from 01-03 and 04-05 but the engine is the same.

I though each years ECU different with minimal changes such as emmisions requirements and such.

04, 05 has a wideband O2 sensor. The 04 and 05 A1s have an EGR valve whereas the 01-03's do not. If you need a motor, get the motor that matches the wiring harness and ECU you have. The O2 sensor wiring is slightly different, so you'd have to match the sensor to the ECU, if you have no EGR wiring in the harness, just swap the water block from the old engine to the new one, that will just block off the port on the side of the head.
