Re: Gettin Camber Wear Problem

that tells me the shop didnt do anything then. it must still be at stock wheel specs. maybe they tried and the stock camber kit did not allow for enough change, so they gave up and took your money anyway. anytime you change something tire/wheel/suspension related, alignment will change. this reminds me of my sams club experience. my car was shaking like a **** at 65+ so i thought it has to be wheels not balanced. so i take it in, they say they are all perfectly balanced, i drive it around and no change. then i goto a real alignment shop, he says these are waaay off balance. they try to balance them, i go driving and no more shaking.

Re: Gettin Camber Wear Problem

Ya, sounds like they were limited by the OEM camber arms. Ask them to give you the camber measurements.

Re: Gettin Camber Wear Problem

two things, was the alignment done with the winter tires on or the 17s on, because there will be a difference between the two with alignment, second, with balancing, there are many types of balancing, static spin balance(worst), dynamic sticky weight spin balance(better) and sticky weight road force balancing(fantastic) my recommendation is to have a shop perform an alignment with ur 17s on, and have the wheels road force balanced, it will make a huge difference in ride and might fix ur alignment problem. i have 17s as well, and i have found that i have to have my alignment fixed in the rear about once every 6 mos or so. so if it has been a while, it may just be time to have it done again. finally, if ur getting camber wear only on the front or rear, u may want to rotate more frequently to keep camber wear to a minimum

Tire size wont change static alignment settings what so ever! As long as your changing all 4 tires to the same equal proportion sized tires. To the original poster..... You said it was aligned this summer when they put the tires on correct? How many miles did you drive it from then till now? How many times did you rotate the tires during that time and what were the intervals between rotations( how many miles )? And have you had the alignment checked since you discovered this tire wear?

So other words the tires should have been rotated a min of 2 times since they were originally put on if not more. Funny part is how what people sometimes think was 10,000 miles turns into 15-20,000 miles when its actually checked on the invoice and compared to the current odometer. Not to mention you have no idea where the alignment is currently set at? I wont even bring up the point that you said its your GF's car and we all know how good women drivers are Its more likely that its lack of rotation, improper air pressure, and the alignment out because driving conditions. I deal with this sh*t EVERY day. its not an easy thing to tell a customer that they wore out there tires because A, they bought a car that wasnt designed to get good tire wear to begin with! B, they should try to do preventive maintenance like tire rotations. C, they bought the cheapest tire sold ANYWHERE! D, that little BUMP on the curb 6 months ago WILL cause tire wear eventually on cars made from recycled scrap metal that are thinner than paper to meet EPA fuel economy standards! Dont be so quick to judge the person that did the last alignment.

Re: Gettin Camber Wear Problem

watch how your snow tires wear closely. If the alignment is off now you could ruin them

Re: Gettin Camber Wear Problem

what about blown shocks, i had one front shock leaking, i let it go, then 4 months later i have 3 good tires and 1 thats bald on the outside tread and barely legal inside. and it makes the car shake at higher speeds even with perfect alignment and balance.
