Poor gas mileage
Poor gas mileage
03 EX 2dr w/ auto tranny and 63K. When the car was picked up about 3K miles ago it was getting about 32mpg, now its down to about 28. I plan on doing some maintenance include fuel filter, rotor&cap, plugs, wires, and 02. Anything else to look for?
Also is there an easy way to tighten the tranny kickdown cable? Downshifting is very slow and sometimes it would rather bog in second then go into first.

Re: Poor gas mileage
Yes there is!
Go out to your car and look for the following:
Distributor, Rotor, and plug wires.
Our cars do not have them.
Just keep the oil changed, change the trany fluid ever so often and check the plugs ever 6 months or so. That with a clean air filter and quality fuel should warrant a long living Honda.

Re: Poor gas mileage
and try and find the fuel filter too, its in the tank, so good luck changing that, change plugs and oil, then use some sea foam, or lucas gas treatment, it may help
Re: Poor gas mileage
Haha, sorry I'm a chevy guy at heart
. Forgot these cars have coil-on-plug setups
. I don't know of too many vehicles that have fuel filters in-tank, just doesn't seem practical. Yea I was going to seafoam as well through the crankcase, gas tank, and intake before I did the maint.
Anyone know how to do the tranny kickdown cable adjustments?
