My ghetto rigged intake!

Just got my 01 civic, decided to rig an intake to it for now, til i can afford a better one, had an old intake tube laying around, cut it, added a filter, got 20 dollars in the whole intake!

You could of just gutted out the stock airbox and it would give you 3 hp and its free.

Ive had a mini filter on mine for about 2 1/2 years now without a problem. I think it just pulls the fumes and evaped oil back into the cylinders for better EPA standards.

You are right, it pulls the condensation and combustion gases that blow by the piston rings which helps meet EPA standards. At the same time, by removing the gases from the crankcase the contaminents are burned instead of ending up in the oil. Not a big deal as long as the oil is changed at the recomended interval.

That "breather valve" Is used to intake air into the valve covers just as covered above. The suction portion should come through the PCV. PCV valve's are one way valve that should only open when a suction is placed on it, which is where the gases are removed from.
