Transmission swap?

Can I switch out my transmission from automatic to manual on my 2012 Honda Civic EX Sedan?

Re: Transmission swap?

You could.
But it would literally be cheaper to sell the car and buy a new civic.
Might even be cheaper to just buy a second civic.

There is a LOT that must be done.
But anything is possible with enough money.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: Transmission swap?

You would need a donor car to rob parts from, and it will be a whole lot of parts. Depending on your location, you may not be allowed to do a swap like this due to emissions regulations.

Plus the car would be worth a lot less when it comes time to sell, unless you can find an 'enthusiast' willing to pay way too much for it.

Sell the car you don't want, buy the car you do want.

Re: Transmission swap?

I did it on the 7th gen... It took three months of research and week to get everything working.

The cost if you do it yourself is cheap until you factor in your time, lol.

If you love your car and believe you have the know how, go for it =D.

Re: Transmission swap?

Yeah Cam, but it was prolly easier to find "spare" parts to do your swap than it would be for OP's 2012.
