Purchasing a 2006 Civic si a few questions..
Alright so I'm selling my 2010 Ford Fusion SE so I can purchase an 06 si.
As much as I like the fusion I just don't need that big of a car. And the MPGs isn't that good, about 23mpg.
Anyway I have been looking at a 2006 Fiji blue civic si. It has 103k miles and really looks good. The car is in EXCELLENT condition it looks phenomenal.
My first question is, does it really make sense to downgrade? The fusion only has 57k miles. Warranty is gone and stuff. It's value has dropped TREMENDOUSLY looking on kbb a fusion in excellent condition is worth about 11. a good civic si is 2006 is worth 11.
Second question is with the Civic si, should I be worried about purchasing a car with 100k miles? What should I be looking out for? I know people say honda's are extremely reliable and I should be able to get another 100k out of the engine on it.
Third question is I'm getting 11500 for the fusion and the civic is only costing me 9000 it's from an owner not a dealer. The owner lives in a pretty nice place and seems to take good care of his cars, should I be worried about the car dying a week after? I'll be using the car to go to college, the rest of the money from my fusion is going towards school I really want to finish college.
It's a 2 door coupe and I really love the look of the car. I really want to finish college and selling the fusion and getting a cheaper car seems to be the easiest way to finish on a good note, plus I can keep the civic for a while after I finish.
Fords really depreciate fast. I was shocked to find out the Civic si was worth as much as my 10 Fusion. I have horrible luck with cars. My 2008 Ford Focus' transmission went out at 104k miles, my moms 2006 Ford Fusion transmission is going out at 115k miles. I just want a reliable car.
Thanks for reading!
Side note- I can't drive stick, but I want to learn how and I've been practicing on a mercury cougar.

Re: Purchasing a 2006 Civic si a few questions..
My wife has a 2006 SI with 95,000 miles. I gave it to her when she didn't know how to drive very well. I taught her a few times and gave it to her for work. I said, heres the keys bye lol. When thats all you have you will learn I promise lol. The mileage on that car you want are a good average. I wouldnt worry about the mileage a bit honestly. I havent done a thing to hers, but oil changes to Mobile 1. The cars great, it does run rich a lot but if drove a little hard speeding up its good and no CEL on. I just changed the brakes last couple weeks. I'd honestly look it over and go by kbb and if its good with you get it.

Re: Purchasing a 2006 Civic si a few questions..
It absolutely makes sense to switch cars....i wouldn't even call it a downgrade..i'd take an si over a fusion any day. Plus in 2-3 years the fusion will be worth less than the si.
Honda has had some tranny problems on some models, but thats only for the automatics. The manuals are always pretty solid. A major problem for the normal 2006 civics is the cracked engine block but that's with the r18 engine. The SI has a K20 so you're good there. Should be a fun reliable car.
