Rep Power: 0 travelling emergency help!!! car ignition switch or key?
I am far from a honda dealer ship(160km)... car decided to start then turn off after about 3 seconds of idling. The dash still lights up and seems like there is power to the car.. but will not start.. I don't think it is the battery because it's new and the car had started then turned off...
the ignition key switch light continues to flash on the dashboard.. is there a way I can test the ignition switch .. they want 500+ for ignition key switch and 120 for the key to be reprogrammed(called vancouver for a quote)
any ideas? on what I should try before calling a tow truck....

the green key light is the immobilizer system having issues. either an actual problem or your key is damaged and the ignition cannot read its coded chip. immobilizer is a security feature that cuts fuel and spark when the wrong/damaged key is used to start the car. more than likely you just need a new key and have it programmed. no reason at all to replace anything but the key unless you try that and it still has issues.
