Rep Power: 0 is the D17 1.7 worth the effort?
I've had a 05 honda civic ex coupe for about a year now and was wondering if adding all the bolt-ons are even worth it? 1.7? it seems alittle small to be bothering with. Plus I can hardly find any engine performance parts exept the typical cold air intake and exhaust. Maybe an Engine swap? but what engine would be the best? H22? any ideas. Thanks

search around. plenty of info. but K series swaps are really common. that or boosting it. not too much potential goin N/A but find a person named Triz. he's kinda goin the N/A route. he'll tell you what you wanna know.

Yeah. I mean really the D17 is such a POS. Why waste any money on it? No one has ever made any decent power on it.

While some people have made decent power with a turbo, I would say that adding bolt-ons without a turbo project in the words is just treading water. The only reason to do I/H/E on an N/A D17 is because you like the sound.

Exactly. I was just feeling a little bitey this morning.
Folks always seem to be looking for a cheap way to add massive (relatively speaking) amounts of horsepower to Honda engines, which simply aren't designed to be NA powerhouses. When you look at it from a % increase over stock, they're actually pretty decent if you have the supporting mods (cam, tuning, etc..). But when you break it down to the actual numbers, it sucks. Boost or bottle is the only way to get real power out of a D17.
