Upgrade steering wherl

Hello my name is Joshua and I’m new here. I was wondering if I wanted to upgrade my steering wheel to one that has radio controls is it a straight plug in or do I have to mod more?

Re: Upgrade steering wherl

If you are changing it to a wheel from the same generation and body style, it should be a straight forward swap.

-disconnect battery (don't want the bag to fire at your face, lol)
-remove the two torques bit screws from the wheel (lower side, left and right)
-remove bottom access pannel on wheel, unclip harness
-pull airbag out by hand, unclip any other wires.
-remove steering wheel main locking nut (19mm).
-put nut back on a few threads, so the wheel wont fly off.
-bump the back of the wheel forwards towards you, until it pops off.

-replace with new steering wheel
-reconnect battery
-type in radio code
-start car let idle for 5 minutes.

good luck

Re: Upgrade steering wherl

The wire harness in the dash might be different........could need some creative wiring to make the extra switches work

Re: Upgrade steering wherl

As ezone said the vehicke harness may not support the wheel, in which case you would have to create your own harness to the radio, and make sure the radio unit supports steering wheel control.

Hopefully, the harness is generic, and only the wheel is missing the radio buttons/wheel harness.
