it is a big pain in the butt with the string if you go somewhere like orielly that is staffed by a bunch of tech school rejects that can only find stuff by computer.. i recommend whipping out a credit card and buying one size larger than your string, and the next 4 sizes smaller. keep them clean and the packages nice, and then return the 5 that don't fit... it'll save you a few trips to o'rielly.
if you were to go to a better store, like a privately named/franchised carquest, or a napa that's been there a while, they'll almost certainly have a belt length finder. without that you're holding up rubber bands and string and guessing. the people at autozone and orielly here never heard of such a tool.
